Fireplaces, whether wood-burning stoves or open fires, have the ability to transform a room, and I have created a number of fire surrounds in both traditional and contemporary styles. The surround illustrated below was commissioned by an architect for his own house and interweaves a stylised oak branch motif with animals chosen by his children.
